Scientific Monitoring Project TransRegBio
Transformation Analysis and Design Concepts for a Regional Bioeconomy
The German "National Research Strategy Bioeconomy 2030" [] formulates two strategic goals for a bio-based economy: On the one hand, the development of novel products, processes, and services from renewable raw materials should strengthen the competitiveness of the German economy. On the other hand, the targeted bio-based economy should contribute to the fulfillment of global obligations in the fields of world nutrition, climate, resource and environmental protection.
A structural change towards a bio-based economy, as the BioBall Innovation Space is striving for, must be based on these strategic goals. Within the framework of the scientific monitoring project “TransRegBio”, the following questions are considered to enable the Innovation Space BioBall to be continuously aligned with the strategic goals of the research strategy.
As part of the scientific monitoring of the R&D&I projects, TransRegBio on the one hand supports the selection process of suitable R&D&I projects by developing handouts that allow an assessment of quantitative criteria defined by the BioBall Innovation Space during the application phase. On the other hand, the R&D&I projects are scientifically accompanied so that the technologies can be developed taking into account the needs of users and the market and considering environmental implications.
The experiences and methods developed will result in tools and action guidelines that can also be used beyond the Innovation Space to design and evaluate the transformation process towards a bio-based economy in accordance with the goals of the research strategy.
